Egyptian Mythology obsession

I have always been fascinated with the worlds of gods and demigods -- how they came into being, how do they look like, where do they live, what do they eat, etc etc? When Rick Riordan first launched the Percy Jackson series, honestly, I did not bother looking at it as the title 'The sea of monsters' did not really strike me that much (sorry!). So all along, I've just had this book in my shelf.

Gifted to me on my birthday, sitting there, collecting dust.
It was one of those fateful vacation weeks when I went home to the province that I decided to give it a try, when lo and behold!!! This book (and yassss series) is all about Greek mythology!!! What makes it cooler is the fact that it is written in a contemporary setting. So after finding out that this book includes Circe, the Olympians and every one else, I started chomping on the whole series. But then, all good things must come to an end. You know that feeling when a series is about to end and you just want to savor it so you will only read a page every hour? So before I finally gave up and bid goodbye to my beloved series, I researched for other books or series of the same tone. There I found out that Greek mythology is somehow related and has similarities with Egyptian mythology.

Luckily so, Rick Riordan never stopped writing when the Percy Jackson series ended. I was then introduced to the siblings, Sadie and Carter Kane of the Kane Chronicles. Very much like the Percy Jackson series, I enjoyed reading this book, at the same time, researching more about Egyptian mythology and what are their influenced to our current society. The Egyptians are known as having one of the earliest civilizations and a concept of society, so it is without a doubt that their culture and mythology is very rich and interesting.

Right now, I find it a challenge to write our very own Philippine mythology and how to make it as rich and interesting as one that Rick Riordan has written and continues to write. I must say that my country has a very vast collection of mythologies -- gods and goddesses of creation, nature, the underworld, even mythical creatures and entities. Only that they are translated orally and only a few are written about them. So maybe from here, I should start writing one!
